Well actually, he just sat at the foot of my bed and watched the entire opening. Then he left the room to see why his brother was making noise.

He is extremely hard to handle.  And I’m rather good at handling cats.  He can sweet as can be and likes to cuddle at times.  It’d be nice except for the fact that once he’s nestled in your lap, he will start biting the ever-loving shit out of you.

Anyway, apparently the original owner is going to take him back this weekend, barring a sudden 180° in his demeanor.  I do feel sad about it, because I have actually gotten attached to him.  Even though I can’t sleep when he’s around – due to the fact that he’s attack any exposed body parts with claws- he’s still a good kitty in a lot of respects.  We’ve spent a lot of time together so I am going to miss him.

But that’s depressing and no one wants to hear about it, so here’s a kitty.

However, I’ve finally found a good use for them.  Saving money in a certain fashion.

One of my more recent setbacks was that my last paycheck wasn’t as big as I thought it was going to be.  It was barely enough to cover my rent, leaving me with only 40 bucks to buy whatever I needed in the next two weeks.  I’m not sure if I’ve ever been on quite that tight of a budget before.  It wouldn’t be so bad if I hadn’t just bought a MiFi, but I did and there’s really no helping it now.  So I decided to plan out my expenditures and see if I could stretch out my cash a bit more.

My main money-related problem isn’t food.  Hell, I can live happily on the cheapest grub ever.  I could last a month on pancakes, eggs, and rice if I had to.  No, my main money-related problem is that I see something while shopping, instantly build an enormous air castle about what I could use it for, and buy it even though I’ll never get around to using it.  It’s different than impulse buying – that’s actually exciting and generally turns out with fewer regrets.  This is buying things “just in case” you get around to using them for an entirely non-concrete project you just made up on the spot.

This is why I have about 6 each of #1 and brush tip nib Sakura pigma pens.  I love those pens, but I don’t need to buy a couple every single time I go to the city. I do  have reasons and rationalizations for doing this.  Michael’s has them as open stock, whereas I have yet to find an online site that sells them in anything other than a pack that contains at least three other pens I have no need for.  So I should pick them up, right?  I mean, I don’t get to go to the city that often.  Going to the city is expensive!  It never seems to occur to me that going to the city could happen a hell of a lot more often if I didn’t throw my hard-earned money at any shit that I may conceivably use in the future.

So how can it save money?  That “planning out my expenditures” thing I mentioned before?  It became the air castle.  I was too busy dreaming about what I was going to buy with the money that I went 6 out of the 14 days without actually spending any of it.  Until today when I finally broke down and bought ingredients for a nice Thanksgiving meal.  But even that wasn’t too expensive, since I’m single and live alone. I did have one air castle item, but it wasn’t anything much and I’m drinking it now.

By the way, this NaBloPoMo thing is greatly helping me with my air castle infestation. I’m taking care of one castle (taking the time to post to my blog) by turning all of my other castles into concrete structures, thus creating blogging fodder.  Combined with my ingrained trait of never wanting to break a streak, I’m thinking I can go pretty far.

I suck at organizing so I bought a metal rack to hold my kitchen supplies.

I have enough Gatorade on top of there to last roughly a month and a half.  That or several bad hangovers.  Considering I’ve only been hungover once, it’ll probably last me a month and a half.

I’m reading Violinist of Hameln right now, so here’s Vocal.  I’ve never seen a character with absolutely no alliances before, even ones he intends to break later.

I need to get some darker purple Copics.  The darkest one I have is Mallow, which led me to try layering Lipstick Red, Cyanine Blue, and colorless blender so make the correct color.  Turns out that it doesn’t work so well and tends to bleed like hell.
